During healthy digestion, food is broken down into its smallest possible components. These pass harmlessly through the gut and into the bloodstream.

However, occasionally small fragments of partially digested food are able to get through the gut wall. These are known as ‘antigens’. Your vigilant immune system recognises these antigens as foreign, and creates antibodies (IgG) to combat them.

The antibodies attach themselves to the antigens, forming antigen-antibody complexes. If the immune system doesn’t clear these away efficiently, they can be deposited in tissues, contributing to a range of symptoms.

By testing the types of IgG in the blood, we can work out which foods you may be reacting to. We can also gain clues about the integrity of your gut.

Dear

Congratulations on getting this far. I have reviewed your symptom survey and test results to create your personalised program.

Your results

Please find your Healthpath Food Sensitivity Report attached, along with our partner lab's “Patient Guidebook’. This breaks down the science of food sensitivity testing and how to use your results.

With the symptoms you describe, there is usually an element of bacterial imbalance that contributes to symptoms of food sensitivity. By using our health plan to restore your gut health, in conjunction with your results, you may find you can reintroduce these foods in the long run.

I’ve included resources in your health plan, to start explaining the link between food sensitivities and gut health.

What's next?

Your test results are the first step in getting answers to your symptoms. Next, I want to empower you to find better health.

Please take the time to review the health plan I have created for you.

Go to My Health plan for the food, supplement and lifestyle advice I have tailored to you and your needs.

You can feel confident knowing that our practitioners review both your results and your symptoms to create a practical, easy-to-understand report.

You discover which foods you’re sensitive to, and you also learn simple steps to improve your gut health—so your diet can become as inclusive as possible over the long term.

Before you choose a food intolerance test

There are two things you need to know:

Technology matters

Some providers use inexpensive but unreliable bioresonance testing. Healthpath uses immunoassay microarray technology to identify IgG antibodies, which has strong clinical efficacy.

Symptoms count

You can have raised IgG antibodies without any symptoms. That’s why we ask you to tell us about your symptoms too, so you get comprehensive, balanced advice.

Frequently asked questions

Is food sensitivity and intolerance testing legitimate?

Yes, we believe there is real value in food sensitivity testing if you know how to interpret the results. Rather than focusing on specific foods, it can be helpful to look at the overall picture presented by the results. If you find you’re sensitive to lots of foods, for example, it could mean that your gut health needs addressing. You may also wish to consider the Leaky Gut Test and the Gut Health Test. Feel free to get in touch with us at hello@healthpath.com if you’d like further guidance.

Will I have to give up lots of foods?

Not necessarily. If you find you have lots of foods in the ‘red’, it can be more helpful to focus on improving your gut health rather than subjecting yourself to extreme dietary restrictions. Your food intolerance test report will explain this in full detail. If you’d like to know more, feel free to get in touch with us at hello@healthpath.com

Who should take the food intolerance test?

People who feel they’re reactive to lots of foods may find this test helpful. If can also be helpful for people who suspect they have food sensitivities but can’t seem to establish any pattern to their symptoms.

Do you ship outside the UK?

At the moment we only ship to UK addresses. If you have a special request, feel free to get in touch.

How do I take the food intolerance test?

You can download full instructions here.

Do I need to stop taking supplements or medications before taking the food intolerance test?

This test may be affected by immunosuppressant medications. However, you must not stop any medications in order to take this test. Please speak to your GP first.

Is there anything I need to do before taking the food intolerance test?

You must follow your normal diet before taking the food intolerance test. However, if there’s a food that you’ve avoided for more than 3 months but which you would like tested (e.g. cow’s milk), reintroduce that food. Eat one portion of the food daily for a week before taking the test. For more information, see the test instructions.

What should I do if I have a question or an issue with taking my sample?

If you have any questions or issues with taking your sample according to the instructions provided, it is important you contact us before you send your sample to the lab.

Healthpath cannot guarantee to intercept your sample once it arrives at the lab and so it may still be processed.

Contact us on hello@healthpath.com.

Is there anyone who shouldn't take the food intolerance test?

Pregnant women should not take this test as their immune system is suppressed. It should be fine to take the test 4–6 weeks after giving birth.

How long for food intolerance test results?

Your results will be posted on your online account a maximum of 10 working days after you return your samples, though it’s often sooner.

How do I view my results?

Simply log in to your Healthpath account here and click ‘Tests’. You’ll be able to access your results and personalised recommendations 10 working days after returning your samples (sometimes sooner).

Why can't I get this test through my GP?

How will I know what my results mean?
