For this test, you collect a saliva sample immediately on waking, and then four further samples throughout the day. By measuring levels of cortisol and DHEA, it’s possible to see how your body responds to stress. Your results will be ready within 15 working days.

Yes and no. The name ‘adrenal fatigue’ is confusing because it suggests that the adrenal glands slow down or simply stop working. This isn’t the case. What’s actually happening is that the hormone cortisol isn’t functioning as it should, and this dysfunction involves many other parts of the body (including the brain). The symptoms of adrenal fatigue are very real, but it’s probably more accurate to call that state ‘adrenal insufficiency’.
Stress can be psychological, but it can also be physical and chemical. You can feel fine mentally even if physiologically you’re struggling. If you’re suffering from a few of the symptoms listed above, it may be worth taking the adrenal fatigue test.
Anyone suffering from one or more of the symptoms listed above may benefit from taking the adrenal fatigue test. It could be particularly insightful for people who don’t feel refreshed after a good night’s sleep, and/or people who find they get a ‘second wind’ of energy after around 10pm.

Substances that affect test results include hydrocortisone-containing creams and medications, DHEA supplements, pregnenolone and progesterone. This test is also not suitable for those undergoing cancer therapy. However, you must not stop any medications in order to take this test. Please speak to your GP first.
You should avoid chewing gum, smoking and all food at least 30 minutes prior to each saliva collection. You should also avoid wearing lipstick while taking the samples. For more information, you can download the adrenal fatigue test instructions here.
If you have any questions or issues with taking your sample according to the instructions provided, it is important you contact us before you send your sample to the lab.

The turnaround time for this test is 15 working days, after which your results will be posted on your online account.
