About

Alexandra Falconer MA (Dist) DipCNM mBANT is a Registered Nutritional Therapist specialising in IBS and related conditions.

Alexandra believes that IBS symptoms are never ‘normal’, and that everybody can find and address the root causes of their chronic health conditions. Having battled her own gut issues, she knows that the answers we’re looking for often lie in unexpected places.

It’s her mission to bring functional medicine to everyone who needs it, not just the lucky few.

Alexandra was a journalist and copywriter for fifteen years. Now, as a health writer, researcher and Registered Nutritional Therapist, her career allows her to combine her favourite things—writing, holistic health, and people—every day.

Specialising in

As a Registered Nutritional Therapist, Alex works with all health conditions but specialises in the following:

IBS

As a ‘syndrome’, IBS is a collection of symptoms. If you’ve had diarrhoea or constipation for longer than six weeks, you’ve got IBS. But why do you have IBS? A diagnosis of IBS should be the beginning of your search for answers, not the end. Looking for SIBO and dysbiosis of the large intestine (most IBS sufferers have a degree of both) is often a good place to start.

Gut Health

There is almost no disease that isn’t connected to gut health. The microbes that live in your gut, and integrity of the lining of your gut, have a massive impact on inflammation. While we need short-term inflammation, chronic inflammation plays a key role in most of the world’s most serious health conditions, like type 2 diabetes, obesity, and Alzheimer’s disease, and autoimmune conditions like endometriosis, asthma and ulcerative colitis. Balancing your microbiome and strengthening your gut lining with targeted supplements and diet changes has powerful effects on the health of your whole body.

SIBO

Upto 85% of people with IBS have been found to have SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth). Tackling SIBO can have a profound effect on not only gut symptoms like diarrhoea and constipation but the health of your whole body and mind: A trove of research has revealed links between SIBO and conditions like arthritis, depression, eczema, polycystic ovary syndrome, Crohn’s disease and many more.

Success stories

"Alex is an empathetic and experienced practitioner with extremely detailed knowledge. Alex has helped me get to grips with several autoimmune issues and her advice has been invaluable. I would recommend her to anyone seeking real change in their health and wellbeing."

Cathryn

"Alex is wonderful. She is professional, compassionate, knowledgeable, friendly, and I felt very comfortable talking to her about even my most personal health concerns. I had never seen a nutritionist before and was a little nervous beforehand, worrying I would be put on a diet that felt limiting and unmanageable in everyday life. I also appreciated her willingness to work alongside my GP."

Mia

Alex put me at ease straight away; she listened attentively and I felt safe in her hands. She took a complete inventory of my lifestyle and health choices before expertly concluding the best way forward. I am pleased to tell you that my condition cleared up in a few weeks after taking some special supplements Alex had suggested."
