I have always been fascinated by the human body in health and disease.  I love immunology and I am on a mission to unravel the science around your immune system and decode exactly what it takes to be well in the modern day’. 

Experience

Dr Macciochi has over 20 years’ experience as an immunologist with a focus on nutrition and lifestyle. Her training has had a focus on gut health, allergy and autoimmunity and has a deep passion for supporting general wellbeing and proper immune function against the growing tide of modern-day burnout and lifestyle mediated disease. She enjoys working one-on-one with people, as well as speaking at events and lecturing. Her research career has led to numerous scientific publications in the field of allergy and immunology, and she has also led clinical research in immunotherapy and inflammatory disease. 

She currently lectures at the University of Sussex with a research focus on understanding the role of nutrition and lifestyle on immunity. Jenna is also an Editor at Scientific Journals and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. 

Jenna is a member of the British Society for Immunology. She is the author of Immunity, The Science of Staying Well, published by Harper Collins in April 2020 and a long time contributor to online and print media.

Education

Dr. Macciochi graduated with a BSc in Immunology from the University of Glasgow and a PhD from Imperial College London where she specialised in allergic disease and nutrition.

Jenna has also held positions in infectious disease at The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and worked in the Biotech sector on clinical retraining of immunological tolerance via oral immunotherapy. In 2009, Jenna was awarded a prestigious Presidential Fellowship to combine her personal interests in nutrition with the study of the immune system including metabolic endotoxemia, post-prandial gut permeability, diet regimens and pre/probiotics.
